  or have they?

Welcome to scientistshavediscovered.com

This is the place where science meets fiction. Most discoveries made by scientists stand the test of time, however some are often proven to have been completely wrong. Nevertheless whether right or wrong they are usually interesting and either way they inspire others to either disprove or develop new directions of research.

Here we collect articles on interesting scientific discoveries, past and present, right or wrong mixed together with fanciful 'discoveries' that sound plausible but are based on no scientific research or are just pure fiction. We leave it to you to decide which are true and which are false.

We welcome submission of interesting articles about actual scientific discoveries as well as details of plausible discoveries yet to be made. Contact Form

Descendant of Triceratops discovered

Scientists have discovered a 65,000,000 year old fossilized scull of a terrestrial archosaurian reptile believed to be a direct descendant of Triceratops [T. horridus].

The new discovery made in Western Turkey has been named Quinceratops [T. pentcomus], because of its five horns. Like its three horned ancestor the herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur Quinceratops was also a strict vegetarian, thought to have lived mainly on bushes and plants that were close to the ground and on cycads, a type of plant common in the Cretaceous period.

The evolutionary development of the five horned Quinceratops made this vegetarian into a fearsome looking animal... Read more...

Black hole or big bubble?

Scientists have discovered that a Black Hole may not be solid at all but a sphere with an infinitely thin shell made of infinitely dense matter.

According to Professor Cummins at the California Institute of Cosmology, the thickness of the shell would be a fraction of one atom thick making it not only the densest form of matter but probably the smoothest object in the universe.
